Look. You agreed to this. 2017-2018
With Facebook's trove of data being used for political gain, I wanted to make a project that spoke to the wealth of the companies in comparison to the length of legal contracts they demand from their users. After writing out the contracts that allow the big four companies to hold onto our information, one wonders how a simple click of the "agree" button could possibly be legally binding. How long are these contracts? Here's the breakdown in 2018:
Apple, $801 billion, 42 feet of hand written Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Policy ( $19.7 billion/foot)
Google/Alphabet, $680 billion, 20 feet of terms of Use and Privacy Policy ($34 billion/foot)
Amazon, $476 billion, 17 feet of Conditions of Use, and Privacy Policy ($28 billion/foot)
Facebook, $441 billion, 33 feet of Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy ($13.3 billion/foot)
Shown at Zavitz Gallery, Guelph, ON, 2017, and The Boarding House, Guelph, ON, 2018.

grow.
During a particularly cold and snowy winter, the word "grow" was written in linking cursive over the course of the month for a temporary wall drawing exhibit. The lines of text lead to and from a window sill outlined in Astro-Turf, forming fake roots for the fake grass. This piece examines the futility of the desire for control over the uncontrollable.
